I had just finished recording another song and had texted a group of people who’d been praying for me that it was “purdy.” My Aunt Sue texted back that I needed to write a song about heaven with a country/western flair called “It’s Purdy.” I figured, how hard would that be?
So I wrote the song purely as a joke, until I started singing it back and realized these words were exactly what I needed to hear. I get so caught up in spinning plates and keeping all the balls in the air that I forget what really matters, and that when heaven is your home, just how much of what we care about here is going to burn. So, I sing this song to remember what matters and leave the rest behind me.
