This song burst fully formed into my mind while watching a singing competition on TV with my parents. A chord was sung or a story was told that inspired me, and I left the room immediately, scrounged in my Mom’s everything drawer for a pencil and notepaper, and scribbled this song on the paper as fast as I could write it.
As I shared this song with my family, and even as we prepared it for CD, they wanted me to change the words, to end on a note of hope. But some days, no matter what I pray or remind myself of, my heart never gets to hope.
And so this prayer is my prayer to a God I can’t always muster up belief in. To a God I haven’t the strength to hold onto. My prayer that He will hold onto me. Whether or not life gets better.
